Rajghat is a Delhi memorial where Mahatma Gandhi, the nation's father, was cremated in the year 1948, followed by his murder. A plain black marble structure that sits in a beautiful garden is the cenotaph commemorating his memory. Locals as well as foreigners and numerous delegates visit the place in order to pay their homage to the nation's Founder. Every Friday, the day he died in Rajghat, a prayer is held.
 
If India Jawaharlal Nehru, Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Choudhary Charan Singh, Giani Zail Singh, Jagjivan Ram, Shankar Dayal Sharma, Devi Lal, Rajghat also holds samadhis or memorials of prominent leaders. Chandra and I.K. Shekhar Gujral-Gujral. Raj Ghat, translating to King's Bank, makes reference to his position on Yamuna River bank.
 
Besides being the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, Rajghat is also a celebration of his illustrious career. Philosophy of Gandhiji is projected by paintings , sculptures, and photos. His life and philosophy of the Sarvodaya Movement are also seen at the Gandhi Memorial Museum in Rajghat via a film in English and Hindi between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. except Thursday. It's featured in Hindi on Sunday at 4 p.m. and in English at 5 p.m.
