The old mansion of the Nehru family, Anand Bhawan, has been converted into a museum displaying numerous items and items from India's independence campaign. Motilal Nehru designed the double-storey home himself.

When the previous house of Nehru's family, Swaraj Bhavan, began to be utilized as an office of the Indian National Congress, Motilal Nehru, a prominent independence movement leader and politician, constructed a new Nehru mansion. The property is tastefully decorated with imported wooden furniture from China and Europe, as well as numerous treasures from around the globe.

Anand Bhawan is historically significant not only for its construction but also for the significant part it has played in India's history. It was visited by a number of well-known independence fighters who plotted to push Britishers out of the nation. Indira Gandhi gave Anand Bhavan to the Indian government in 1970, with the intention of converting it into a museum to preserve the Nehru family's history.

Anand Bhawan Museum

The then-President of India, Indira Gandhi, donated Anand Bhavan to the Indian government in 1970, and it was later made into a museum as a homage to the Nehru family. The museum houses the Nehru family's mementos, including many personal objects used by Pandit Nehru during his time here.

There are also several photographs from meetings of the Indian National Congress and conspirators who gathered here to plot operations against British authority. Various publications and historical materials authored and used by Pandit Nehru throughout India's independence campaign may also be found.

Nehru Planetarium

Anand Bhawan is not just a historical museum, but it also contains a science planetarium within its grounds. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund manages the planetarium, which was completed in 1975. It was intended to foster an interest in science among the city's schoolchildren, and you'd often see large lines of them waiting to enter. A lovely green landscape surrounds the planetarium. On the anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru's birth, November 14th, the planetarium hosts the famous Jawaharlal Nehru Lecture.
