The Archaeological Museum in Bodh Gaya was founded in 1956 with the goal of displaying old artifacts from Brahmanical and Buddhist beliefs, especially from the Pala era. The museum features multiple exhibits about Buddha's numerous sermons and beliefs. This museum houses a variety of artifacts, texts, and educational aids from ancient colleges, in addition to materials from Gautam Buddha's time.

Two galleries and an open courtyard, as well as two verandahs containing antiques, make up the museum. The sculptures in the first gallery include a crowned Buddha in Bhumisparsamudra, Maitreya, a standing image of Manjusri, pictures of Buddha in various poses, a standing Yakshi figure, a railing pillar representing Surya, a panel representing Sahasra Buddha, and more. The second gallery features sculptures related with Buddhist and Brahmanical religion, including a panel depicting Sapta Matrika, Lord Vishnu's Dasavatara. Tourists may also see coinage from the Mughal era, as well as artifacts and monuments from the Mauryan and Gupta dynasties.

Apart from them, the open courtyard houses the Mahabodhi temple's railing pillars, coping stones, and cross-bars, which were transported here. The outside verandah features a huge figure of Buddha standing in abhayamudra, while the inner verandah has Lord Vishnu's Varah avatar.
