Rajgir in Bihar is a popular pilgrimage destination for Buddhists from all over the world. The town is also popular for the Vishwa Shanti Stupa which stands tall at 400 meters and considered the tallest peace Pagoda in the world. Four statues of Lord Buddha adorn the four sides of the stupa and making the place very sacred for the followers of Buddhism.

This renowned Pagoda is the effort of a Buddhist monk from Japan, Nichidatsu Fujii (1885-1985), who helped achieve world peace through Peace Pagodas. He established many pagodas the world over and one is here at Rajgir. Made of immaculate while marble, it’s a wonderful monument in true sense befitting of the cause it is made to achieve: world peace. 

The Vishwa Shanti Stupa depicts the four phases of Lord Buddha through fours statues on its four corners. Each of the statue symbolizes teachings and life aspectsof Lord Buddha with birth, death, teaching and enlightenment shown through them respectively. These pagodas have served their purpose well, and are still serving, for spreading peace and harmony among people cutting across religions, castes and creed.
