The Statue of Dupleix is a major attraction in Pondicherry, India. This 3 meter high statue was commission in 1870 to honor a famous Frenchman- Francois Dupleix - who governed the place till 1754. Overlooking a lovely children park, the statue at the Place du Republique stands proudly over granite columns. Located on the beach road, it’s a major draw for tourists from all parts of the world.

The Statue of Dupleix is installed at the southern part of the park it’s located inside of. The decision to install the statue was taken once the contribution of Joseph Francois to the French government was recognized.
