Out of many marvelous temples in South India, Sri Venkateshwara Temple is the most splendid and richest temple in the world. It is located in the town of hills-Tirumala at Tirupati in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. This temple is also known as TirupatiBalaji temple or Tirumala temple.Tirupati lies among seven hills resembling a snake like structure when viewed from the sky, the seventh being the largest looks like the hood of the snake.

The Venkateshwara Temple resides in the seventh hill and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, also called as Balaji. The temple is believed to be built starting from 300 AD in the renowned Dravidian style of architecture. There is a holy water tank at the south of the temple known as ‘Swami Pushkarini’ considered very auspicious. The pilgrims and devotees usually take a bath here before entering the temple.

It is also the wealthiest temple in the world in terms of donations and gifts received. Though every day is a celebration at this majestic shrine, the annual ‘Brahmotsavam’ is the grandest festival celebrated in the month of September for nine days. The number of devotees and tourists is usually high here but, during this festival period it surges to millions from all over the world.
