Located in Coonoor, The Nilgiris, Sim’s Park is a park-cum-botanical garden which is fully surrounded by shrubs. Established in 1847, it is at height of 1780 meters above sea level, and minimum temperature here is 5C and maximum temperature is 30C. Spanning across more than 12 hectares, this beautiful garden was developed by Major Murray and Mr. J.D. Sims and it’s a popular attraction now. Constructed around natural contours of land, the average rain fall of this garden is 150CM.

Sim’s Park has many unusual species of plants brought here from different places from around the world. It also has natural occurring shrubs, trees and creepers. Few rare economic trees found here are Cinnamomum, Rudraksh and Queensland karry pine; and many graceful trees like Quercus, Araucaria, Magnolia, Phoenix, Tree ferns, Pine, Camellia. This beautiful garden has mesmerizing terrace with lawns, colorful flower beds and rockeries.

Sim’s Park also has glass house with different flowers and ornamental plants. Additionally, this park has 1000+ species of 255 generas belonging to 85 families. This park remains open from Monday to Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM. Also, there is a minimal entry fee, 30 INR for adults and 15 INR for children. The best time visit this Park is from the month of October to May.
