Ramnagar Fort, around 10 kilometers from Varanasi's center, is a historical masterpiece. On the eastern bank of the Ganges, this renowned historical landmark in Varanasi was built in the 17th century. There is a museum and a temple within the fort complex that are worth seeing. Ved Vyas, the author of the Hindu epic Ramayana, is honored in the temple. Within walking distance of Ramnagar Fort is another shrine devoted to Lord Hanuman. The museum, on the other hand, houses a diverse and unusual collection of vintage automobiles, ivory work, swords and old cannons, palanquins and ancient clocks from royal dynasties. The Darbar Hall of this famed Varanasi fort was originally housed in this museum. Elephant saddles, silk outfits, and jewellery are also on display. The black musical instrument, which has sadly become white, and an astronomical clock are the highlights of the museum's show. This clock is notable for its one-of-a-kind feature. It displays the year, month, week, and day in addition to the time. It also provides astronomical information, such as the location of the sun, moon, stars, and other planets. During the Dushhera celebration, the fort comes alive with color and activity, making it a must-see tourist attraction in Varanasi. The fort has been home to Kashi Naresh and his family since its establishment. As a result, a portion of this Varanasi tourist destination is available to the public.

History

The Kashi Naresh, Raja Balwant Singh, erected the Ramnagar Fort in 1750. According to an inscription unearthed on the fort's outer ramparts, this popular tourist destination in Varanasi dates from the eighteenth century.
