The beautiful Ooty Lake is a major tourist attraction in Ooty in the Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu, India. Covering an area of 65 acres, the lake is ideal for picnic and it also offers fun prospects to kids. Visitors can enjoy boating facilities here at this artificial lake. The lake, constructed by John Sullivan, in 1824, was created by damming the water flowing down mountain streams in the valley. 

The groves of Eucalyptus trees that surround the Ooty Lake lend it beauty and make it a great place for tourists. Every year in the summer month, a two-day even of boat races and boat pageantry is hosted here that attracts a big number of crowds. When it first came into being, the idea was to use it for fishing purposes and ferries but the gradual shrinking of the water paved way for the lake.  

Since 1973, the Ooty Lake is run and managed by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation boating facilities as a tourist attraction. The boat house offers visitors a chance to enjoy Paddle boats, Row boats, and Motor boats. For kids, an amusement park and a mini train are source of entertainment at this place. Other attractions include a garden and pony rides. So, visit this lake and have a good time.
