The Nagin Lake in the east of Srinagar city is a side-shoot branch of Dal Lake connected to it by a very narrow canal. The lake is situated at the foot hills of Zabarwan Mountains and is beautifully surrounded by Hari Parbat on the west side and Shankaracharya hill on the south, extending a mesmerizing view to the visitors.

The Nagin Lake is featured by deep blue waters bordered by lovely poplar trees and willows. Like Dal Lake, a large number of houseboats are docked here as well, giving the tourists a comparatively peaceful and away from crowd option, to enjoy the beautiful valley of Srinagar. Apart from experiencing serene stay in houseboats, tourists can also indulge in water sports like water skiing, shikara rides, motor rides, sailing in fiber glass boats and swimming.

The tourists also get to see a pleasing distant view of the Hazratbal Mosque. Due to its distinguished landscapes, Nagin Lake is also called as the ‘Jewel in the Ring’. Nature and adventure lovers who wish to spend peaceful moments in the lap of nature, must visit this lake to have a complete retreat from the hustle bustle of city life.

The lake is located only 6 kms from the city of Srinagar, which is easily accessible by road. The nearest airport is Srinagar and the nearest railway station is Jammu located 300 kms from Srinagar.
