Escape the big city rush and feel the pristine glow of nature at the hills of Chail. Located some 40 km off Shimla in the north Indian state of Himanchal Pradesh, it’s a perfect place to book a tryst with adventure. Visit a quaint hill station that is gleefully isolated from the rest of Himachal and captures a neat existence on three hills.

Soaring to the height of 2,250 meters from the sea level, Chail was once the erstwhile summer capital of the Maharaja of Patiala, whose exiled status forced him to match the legendary status of the British-owned Shimla hill station. At present, it’s just awesome, as its unrivalled charm is due to the settings of a thick carpet of regally towering deodars. In fact, the hill here is markedly higher to that of Shimla, which surprises many!

The fragranced forests of enormous deodars and chir pine give a perfect tenor to the picturesque hill station of Chail that gives the night glimpses of Satluj Valley, Shimla and Kasauli. The ‘highest cricket ground in the world’ is here which is beautifully bounded by big deodar and pine trees. Gigantic Himalayan ranges are on the opposite side of the town that glow majestically in the sun and snow.

Chail is an ideal heaven for honeymooners where charming summers – with cool days and awesome nights – and attractive winters – with snow-laden mountain ranges – make it all- weather destination. The abundance of greenery and wildlife juxtaposes with good-looking orchards and fascinating snowcapped mountains. The pervasive silvery appearance catches the fancy of tourists from all parts of the world. The polo ground at 2,444 m is another notable attraction here.

The Sidh Baba ka Mandir is worth a visit for his historical worth to the town. The Chail Sanctuary will be a fun, especially kids would love spending time with the tiny wildlife sanctuary. A trip is incomplete without going to the Chail Palace – erstwhile residence of the Maharaja. In overall, come to Chail and feel diverse shades of nature and history by spending a quality time amid charming milieu!
